The Chair’s Lunch is a popular optional event featuring Dr Kylie Moore-Gilbert.
Dr Moore-Gilbert is a Lecturer in Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Melbourne.
She graduated from the University of Cambridge with first class honours in Arabic and Persian and obtained a PhD in Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies from the University of Melbourne. In September 2018 she was arrested by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps after traveling to the country to attend an academic seminar at the invitation of a local university.
Dr Moore-Gilbert was convicted of espionage in a sham trial and was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment. After serving more than 2 years of her sentence, she was brought back to Australia in a prisoner exchange deal in November 2020.
She has written a book “The Uncaged Sky” about her experience of arbitrary detention in Iran.
Dr Kylie Moore-Gilbert appears by arrangement with Saxton Speakers Bureau.
This lunch is a great chance to participate in the forum whilst enjoying a two course luncheon with colleagues. The lunch will be held at the Adelaide Convention Centre and the ticket price $95 inc GST.
